Yamaha XS360/XS400 Engine and Clutch
When restoring a vintage Yamaha, one of the most common stumbling blocks is the valve train. Adjusting your XS400 valves requires a deft touch and the right shims for the job. Until you remove the valve cover and measure the lash, you have no way of knowing the adjustment you will need to make. Cover your bases and order a new XS400 valve shim kit. It has all the shims you could possibly need. And while you have it open, be sure to renew your XS400 valve cover gasket. Our XS400 standard overhaul gasket set has all the gaskets to complete your vintage Yamaha restoration.
Once it’s operational, pay close attention to your XS400’s clutch operation. Any slipping or hard shifting could be a sign of bigger trouble on the way. Mikes XS has XS400 clutch friction plates and XS400 and XS360 clutch springs to help you eliminate shifting problems before they become dangerous. From XS360 cam sprockets and cam sprocket bolts, to the hard-to-find XS360 oil filter bolt, Mikes XS has what you need to complete your XS360 engine and clutch overhaul.
