Permanent Magnet Alternator Kit (PMA) 200 Watt
Replaces your old rotor that has failed or magnet that has weakened over time. Replaces regulator/rectifier with solid state electronics.
Specifically built for the XS650. Fits 1970-79 XS650 with OEM points ignition (or cam timed ignition systems such as Pamco or Boyer Brandsen). Will also fit 1980-84 models running aftermarket cam timed ignition systems such as Pamco or Boyer.
The adapter bracket is hands down the easiest to use and best bracket available. It has the strongest rotor on the market to help with low RPM charging. The rotor hub is made with the correct keyway so there is no filing or guess work in getting the correct fit to the crankshaft. It has a plug and play voltage regulator with a battery side quick disconnect. Includes voltage regulator mounting bracket that bolts to the upper rear motor mount bolts. Dual Lobe point Cam
Cam is used to convert stock dual contact ignition systems to run with a single
contact point set (using a single dual output ignition coil).
Note: Play in the cam rod to cam bushings will make it difficult to get both
cylinder's to fire exactly at the same point. It may be necessary to split the
difference and timing may end up a few degrees off one side to the other.
Erratic or shifting ignition timing may also be caused by a worn out cam chain.
Always adjust your cam chain tension before setting the ignition timing.

have to be fabricated. If you have an 80-84 with factory Tci ignition you will need to
purchase and install the internal cam bushing sets from a points model (Listed
below). System does not use any of the old factory ignition components and its
triggering mechanism is located in/by the camshaft (where point system
components are/were). Carb fuel mixture may have to be richened due to greatly
improved combustion efficiency provided by this high output system. System
requires a switched + power supply of 12.5 volts (at ignitor & Coil).
Final timing must be set with a timing strobe light. System parts will not
interchange or replace any parts from earlier Boyer ignition systems.

supplied Iridium spark plugs caused the engine to gain 2 HP. Further Dyno
testing on other stock and modified 650's showed the same results! The gain
seems to be from improved combustion chamber flame front spread in the 650's old
style combustion chamber. The same results were obtained on engines with
points, factory Tci and Boyer ignitions. We determined that the shape and
position of the nose and electrode caused the gain and not any enhancement of
spark. Smoothing of the dips in the power curve, increased acceleration, reduced
fuel consumption and up to 4 times longer plug life can also be expected.
