Specifically built for the XS650. Fits 1970-79 XS650 with OEM points ignition (or cam timed ignition systems such as Pamco or Boyer Brandsen). Will also fit 1980-84 models running aftermarket cam timed ignition systems such as Pamco or Boyer.

The adapter bracket is hands down the easiest to use and best bracket available. It has the strongest rotor on the market to help with low RPM charging. The rotor hub is made with the correct keyway so there is no filing or guess work in getting the correct fit to the crankshaft. Cam is used to convert stock dual contact ignition systems to run with a single
contact point set (using a single dual output ignition coil).

Note: Play in the cam rod to cam bushings will make it difficult to get both
cylinder's to fire exactly at the same point. It may be necessary to split the
difference and timing may end up a few degrees off one side to the other.


Erratic or shifting ignition timing may also be caused by a worn out cam chain.
Always adjust your cam chain tension before setting the ignition timing.

supplied Iridium spark plugs caused the engine to gain 2 HP. Further Dyno
testing on other stock and modified 650's showed the same results! The gain
seems to be from improved combustion chamber flame front spread in the 650's old
style combustion chamber. The same results were obtained on engines with
points, factory Tci and Boyer ignitions. We determined that the shape and
position of the nose and electrode caused the gain and not any enhancement of
spark. Smoothing of the dips in the power curve, increased acceleration, reduced
fuel consumption and up to 4 times longer plug life can also be expected.

Ignition Switch

Ignition Switch with keys - Fits: XS650 1976-77 May adapt to other years. OEM Ref. #584-82508 (No fork lock on this type) Note: Yamaha has made various versions of this switch and all are sold under the same OEM part number. Ours does Not have a connector plug but wire leads with terminals (extra opposing terminals included with switch). You may have to fit this switch to match your bikes harness connections in the headlamp shell. Position 1. Red wire in headlamp shell from main harness (+power feed from battery) goes to red Ignition switch wire. Key Position 2. Power is fed out via 2 brown wires & 1 red wire with yellow tracer. Key Position 3. Power is fed out via 2 blue wires (park position-only tail light is on). This fits onto the XS400. The wiring is not the same, you must match up and modify the wiring. Same for 1979 Daytona.
