John sent us a couple pictures of his 1980 XS400.
He said according to the serial number it is a 1980, but only the main frame triples trees and upper fork tubes and gas tank were purchased in August of 2015. The engine, rear swing arm, wheels, lower fork tubes and everything that attaches to them are from a 1977 that he totaled in an accident. After two weeks in the hospital and six weeks at home he started rebuilding it. The engine mounts were broken off the engine but a good friend of his who is a professional welder built them back up from nothing and now it’s much stronger than the original.
