Tico sent us several shots of his Yamaha XS650.
Tico said the bike started out as a 1979 Special II, large King/Queen seat, sissy bar and all. He is officially the 3rd owner, with only 5000 miles on it, but he has transformed it into the cafe bike he always wanted.
Tico said he initially got his first XS back in the early 1990’s–a ’78 standard, but ended up selling it for a more modern bike.
This gem he said needed some work cosmetically and a lot of cleaning up, but fortunately, nothing major motor-wise. A few things on it that make it unique are: an XS750 tank; Airtech seat pan/cowl; local upholstery shop finished the seat pad; and paint done by Custom Paint Classics in Washington State, Standard rims, and extended rear shocks to get the ride height where it should be.
So many countless parts were sourced from Mike’s XS…but the ones you can see like the headlight, headlight mounts, speedo/tach, brake rotor all make the bike look the part…the stuff you can’t see like carb parts, filters, rubber bits and pieces help keep the bike running and road worthy.
Tico said he spent the first initial year working on it and sourcing parts, and has just been enjoying it for the last few years. While he considers it finished, it’s an XS and there’s always things that need to be addressed here and there, but that’s part of the love for this bike.
Thanks Tico!
